I joined Facebook as myself yesterday, as you know, Laura. Is anyone else in Facebook? I'd like to be friends. Should we start an SL-NET group in Facebook?
Hi Laura,
That's a good idea--to compare social networking sites. After seeing the problems on my listserves this weekend with Quetchup, comparing features might be good. I generally just do a step by step handout for workshops--faculty seem most comfortable with that.
Cathy
Thanks so much, Laura! I'm happy to be a part of it.

Laura,
Sorry to hear about the migraine! Believe me, I know that migraines and simulations on a computer screen don't mix!! I hope to see you around the coop soon!
We've finished first week of classes now. I have recruited a small, but excited core of students to begin our first experimental SL projects. Orienting them in the next week or so, and we should begin building soon!
Also started talks with the university about getting a couple of regions!

What do you want to learn about teaching using Second Life or other technology?
My concerns are with ensuring access for all students and, hopefully, narrowing the gap between the haves and the have-nots, between the suburban and the urban/rural and between male and female students.
I'd like to know how colleagues are evaluating or assessing both disciplinary content and skills using various social media and technologies.
I'm also interested in the cognitive aspects of immersion inworld. I am cultivating a professional research interest in understanding how the inworld or virtual experience mimics or parallels the readerly experience--I suppose I'm a cognitive, cultural/anthropological narratologist!
